Itinerary

Day: 1
Location: Entebbe
Day 1:
Transfer you from your accommodation in Entebbe to Kajjansi airfield, for your flight up to Kidepo Valley National Park. It is Uganda’s remotest park and within the wild Karamajong region in North Eastern Uganda, one of the last of Africa’s untamed frontiers.

Take a game drive through the Narus Valley, where you will see the most amazing flora and fauna. Large herds of buffalo and elephant, family groups of eland, giraffe and zebra are also seen as hopefully are lions, leopard and cheetah.

An afternoon in a Karamajong Village, for a cultural tour to see how this proud tribe has refused many influences for change. Their ways are unique to them and they are a proud pastoral nomadic tribe who herd cattle. You will see how they live, prepare food, dance, enjoy life and experience what their cattle mean to them.

A quiet night if you are lucky in the wilderness.

Day: 2-4
Location: Kidepo Valley National Park
Day 2 -3:
Depart for exciting game drives with magnificent panoramic views across savannah and dramatic mountain ranges. Drive through the Kidepo Valley, with its dry river bed of sand flanked by borassus palms to the Kanangorok Hot Springs, which lie on the border of South Sudan. Here is the only place in Uganda to see ostriche. You may even be lucky enough to see the elusive and shy Patas Monkeys, which are the fastest of all primates reaching speeds of 35 mph. Prearranged walks can also be organised to the Morungole Mountain’s , outside of the park, to meet the endangered IK tribe. Here you will be able to see how the IK tribe live in their “Odoks” (neighbourhoods) and “asaks” (houses and yards) and see how they have adapted to subsistence farming.

Day 4:
After an early wake up call, depart for a short drive and get dropped off for your walking safari. The early morning sunrise sheds beautiful light on the rugged mountains and savannah and with your guide you will walk close to elephant, buffaloe, zebra and hartebeest, whilst surrounded by a dawn chorus. Then back for breakfast, pack your bags and depart by charter flight to Murchison Falls National Park. Head off for a late afternoon game drive across the undulating grassy plains of the North Bank to find large herds of giraffe. Here also Jackson’s Hartebeest, kobs, waterbuck, oribi are all in abundance. There is also the chance of a magical sighting of the lion and leopard.

Day: 5-6
Location: Murchison Falls National Park
Day5:
After an early breakfast, take a game drive down the Buligi circuit in search of spotted hyenas returning after a nights hunting; lions on the prowl; elephants in search of water and many other delightful distractions.

In the mid afternoon take a private boat launch up the Nile... this really is the highlight of Murchison Falls. As you travel up river there are plenty of hippos and huge Nile crocodiles to be seen along with buffalos, herds of elephants and many others species. The myriad of bird varieties are just incredible – bee-eaters, giant kingfishers, turacos, saddlebill storks to name but a few. You might even catch sight of the elusive Shoebill stork along the shoreline. The launch will stop below the falls and it is here at the top that the River Nile forces its way through a rock cleft, resulting in the spectacular waterfall.

Day 6:
After breakfast depart for Budongo Central Forest Reserve for Chimpanzee tracking within the Kaniyo Padidi area, where you will meet your guides for the morning. This beautiful old mahogany forest is home to over 580 chimpanzees as well as leopards and a few unusual animals like the scaly-tailed flying squirrel, the tree pangolin to name but a few. This forest is also home to a huge variety of birdlife. After your tracking you can have a bite of lunch under the forest canopy before departing to the airstrip for your afternoon flight back to Kajjansi. Transfer to your hotel.
